Chomp Now Live…an App to Review Apps

by MG Siegler TechCrunch

So many apps…so little time.  How can you sort through them all?

Chomp is a new service that aims to offer a better review and recommendation system for iPhone apps. has gone live, with its app now available in the App Store.

The service is sort of like a Yelp for iPhone apps. But what makes it work is that it’s simple and intuitive. When you load up Chomp, you’re taken to a screen with just four main options: Live App Reviews, Recommendations, Add People, and BookmarkedApps. As you might imagine, the Live App Reviews are is a stream of new app reviews coming in, in realtime. Recommendations give you a list of apps to download based on the apps you’ve already reviewed. Add People gives you an easy way to connect with others on the service using your real friends on Facebook, “App Celebrities” (high profile users), and top app reviewers. Bookmarked Apps is obviously a way for you to note apps that you may want to download later.

Find Chomp in the App Store here. It’s as free download.

Ford Using New Version of Sync to Make WiFi Available in Ford Cars

By:  Chris Crum WebProNews

I asked a fellow geeky friend of mine a while back what the future of satellite radio will be, and he responed…not for long.  I pressed him to explain.  He said it is because of WiFi.  Soon we will have WiFi everywhere (including our cars), rendering satellite radio useless.

wireless wi fiCase in point…Next year, Ford will be introducing it’s new version of SYNC, a technology it partnered with Microsoft on. This technology will allow you to have constant Wi-Fi in your car.

All an owner of a SYNC-ready car would have to do is plug in a compatible USB mobile broadband modem (or air card), and they will create a secure wireless connection that will be broadcast throughout the vehicle.

"While you’re driving to grandma’s house, your spouse can be finishing the holiday shopping and the kids can be chatting with friends and updating their Facebook profiles," said Mark Fields, Ford president of The Americas. "And you’re not paying for yet another mobile subscription or piece of hardware because Ford will let you use technology you already have."  Read More

New Firefox for Mobile is Almost Here!

Everyone is wondering when Firefox is going mobile…it is going to be sooner than later…at least for some mobile subscribers.  If you are anything like me…you can’t wait to have one of the best browsers on your mobile devise.  Fennec will be reveiled soon.

By Doug Caverly WebProNews

new firefox appThe all new mobile version of the ever popular FireFox – also known as Fennec – is almost ready to launch. Indeed, a Mozilla exec was recently quoted as saying that a release could be "days away," so it’s possible that the new mobile browser will appear in time for some tech-inclined individuals to play with it on New Year’s Eve or even Christmas.

Word of this short-term goal comes via the BBC from Jay Sullivan, who’s Mozilla’s vice president of mobile. Apparently Fennec’s going through a last phase of testing, and, barring any "showstoppers," will be available quite soon.

The catch relates to compatibility, meaning this rollout won’t put Fennec in everyone’s hands. Owners of Nokia’s N900 phones will be the first to get their hands on the mobile version of Firefox. Then, as the BBC reported, "The organisation is also developing versions for Microsoft’s Windows mobile and Google’s Android operating system."  Read the rest here!
